Fish Stocking Committee

Trout Fishing

GSA has a 4-acre pond that is stocked throughout the year with an assortment of quality rainbows, browns and brook trout. The pond has access for handicapped members who will enjoy fishing from the dock that is behind the clubhouse or from the new fishing pier on the opposite side of the pond.

Members are urged to check the bylaws and rules for restrictions on creel limit, allowable baits and pond closures for events.

Speaking of events... One of the favorite events of the year is the annual fishing derby that is sponsored by the Junior Membership Committee. Young anglers have first shot at catching some very impressive trout.

Another event that GSA is proud to participate in is Take A Vet Fishing. This is a day where local veterans come to the Club and get a chance to forget about their troubles and enjoy a relaxing day of fishing for healing and recovery. It is truly the best medicine! Lunch is provided for them by the Club members. We truly appreciate their service to our great nation!

Many members also enjoy fly fishing this pond. Many of the largest catches over the years have been on a fly. But whether you prefer to use a wooly bugger or a Phoebe, you will definitely enjoy fishing at the GSA pond.

Fish Stocking

The Fish Stocking Committee stocks approximately 1200 trout annually. The team meets with the stocking truck in the wee hours of the morning and helps transport the fish from the truck to the pond. One obvious benefit is that we get to see all these quality fish before they are released. We can always use another member on the team. Please think about joining the Fish Stocking Committee.
